Writing, Lecturing, Training, Media

I love to communicate!

I am passionate about communicating my love of historic parks and gardens.

In 2010 I was delighted to win the Garden Media Guild's 'Inspirational Book of the Year Award', with co-author Gillian Mawrey, for our book The Gardens of English Heritage (Frances Lincoln). In 2003 I authored Historic Parks and Gardens of Cheshire (Landmark Publishing). Currently I am writing a book on the history of playgrounds, for the University of Liverpool Press.
I have also been published in magazines such as Historic Gardens Review, The Garden, and shortly the Landscape Institute journal.

Quite the jabber box, I have appeared on the BBC's One Show, and spoken on Georgie Tonight, and BBC Radio Kent.

I'm always pushing to find new ways to make garden history interesting, and was delighted to form the Experiencing Arcadia online interpretation project with Clare Hickman.

Public speaking gets me really excited, so I love lecturing, teaching and training, be it on garden history, playgrounds of the past, children in the historic environment, or the research and conservation of historic landscapes.
